Student Use of Technology

In my practicum class, there is quite a bit of technology used everyday. For example, there is a Doc Cam, ActivBoard, laptop, and iPads. Students use a specific program on their iPads, called, Moby Max. This happens in our class everyday after 10:30 am. The only technology students use is the iPad, with the Moby Max program. I feel like this aligns with the empowered learner and digital citizen standards. When students use this program, they are achieving and demonstrating competency to grow for their learning goals. In addition, students are demonstrating a safe, ethical, and respectful relationship to the internet. For Moby Max, students are presented with learning materials that allows them to grow and be an empowered learner. They are developing competency for literacy skills, which definitely demonstrates the empowered learner standard. For digital citizen, students are being safe and responsible with the internet. They go straight to Moby Max and demonstrate their respect for the internet by following the rules. I think my teacher is incorporating ISTE educator standards, citizen and facilitator. He constantly demonstrates leadership with technology and represents a safe online presence. My teacher also facilitates the students use of technology when they are working on this program.

  1. Amanda, how does your teacher meet those standards; be specific. You were fairly general in your description of that.
